Hampstead Hill Academy is a cell phone-free
environment for all students.
If a child brings their cell phone to school, they will be required to turn off their phone and store it in a Yondr pouch during the school day. Yondr pouches magnetially close and must be unlocked at an unlocking station by a staff member. When students arrive in homeroom, they will be instructed to turn off their phone, place it in the Yondr pouch, and seal it. The student will hold their phone in their pouch during the school day. At dismissal, students will unlock their pouch, remove their phone, and take both their phone and their pouch home with them. It is the expectation that if students choose to bring their phone to school, they also bring their Yondr pouch each day. If a student does not bring their Yondr pouch but does bring their phone, their phone will be locked and stored in the main office for the length of the school day. If a student needs to contact their parents or family member, there are phones in the main office and in each classroom. Families are encouraged to call the main office or use Class Dojo to relay important messages to their child.
If students are found to have their phone outside of their pouch during school hours, the phone will be confiscated and parents will be required to attend a conference with their student and an administrator.
Like any other item of school property, students who attempt to damage or vandalize their pouch will face disciplinary action.
Additionally, no headphones, earbuds or handheld devices are allowed during the school day and will also be confiscated. Damaged or lost Yondr pouches will cost $20 per replacement.
