The HHA student uniform consists of a collared navy blue shirt with tan or khaki pants, shorts or skirts. Any shirt with the HHA-logo is also acceptable as a uniform top. Shorts and skirts may not be shorter than fingertip length. Jumpers and dresses must also be tan, khaki or navy. Jeans are not permitted. Students may wear a navy blue or tan sweater or crew neck navy blue sweatshirt. Outdoor jackets are not acceptable to be worn during the day in the classroom. Students may wear hoodies to school, but hoods must be off upon entering the building, throughout the school day, and while attending school related functions. As with all other tops, hoodies must be blue and have no writing or large logos. Uniform sweaters and sweatshirts are sold at the HHA School Store. Students should wear appropriate shoes with a back or a back strap. Students are not allowed to wear or have hats, bonnets, or bandanas with them during instruction. Occasions when uniforms are not required are announced via our website, the parent news magazine and on Class Dojo. Click here for more details on the BCPSS Dress Code Policy.

City Schools policy also articulates the following:

  • No pajama-type attire, undershirts or other bedtime attire is allowed during the school day or during school-sponsored activities.
  • Footwear such as slippers, thongs, “heelys,” and flip-flops are not allowed during the school day or during school-sponsored activities.
  • No hats, hair rollers or curlers are allowed during the school day or at school-sponsored activities.
  • Pants should be worn appropriately at the waist, without undergarments showing. No clothing designed or altered to expose undergarments or parts of the body except arms or legs is allowed.
  • Apparel with vulgar statements or statements promoting illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, or gangs is not allowed.
  • Shorts and skirts may not be shorter than fingertip length. Halter tops, tank tops, spaghetti straps, muscle shirts, or see-through tops are not allowed.
  • No undergarments worn as outerwear are allowed. Clothing should be worn so that undergarments, including boxer shorts, and underwear are not exposed.

Bag Policy

Small and medium sized bags will be allowed in class unless the privilege is abused. Students may have a bag but it must stay on the back of their chair during instruction. If the bag becomes a distraction in any way, it must be placed in the student’s locker or on a teacher’s desk.
